Making The Most Derelict Factory Spaces
It’s only a few short years ago since the idea of turning an old wharf-side warehouse into several high end utterly luxurious apartments became the absolute rage. Every building that was stable and worthy would be gutted and made into fantastic homes – for the up and coming business leader and entrepreneur. Maybe all the units have b een modernised now, but that scheme doesn’t seem to feature on any daytime lifestyle programmes now. In this area there are still many ‘brown field’ sites that are ripe for the gut and refit model. These old boot and shoe factories look grim and unbecoming outside but they scrub up well and can provide space for quite a few modern studio apartments. Where there is not the space for individual dwellings, then reutilising something from our past can be such a fantastic way to keep that link, and be useful to today’s generation.
