The Evil Smelling Washer Has To Go

The Evil Smelling Washer Has To Go

When you live in a house from being built, as I have with this current one, it is easy to see things as still new and not needing updating.  Time slips by very easily and before you know it, you’re looking at old and inefficient […]

A Pop Of Colour Brings A Zing Back Into Life

A Pop Of Colour Brings A Zing Back Into Life

I was overjoyed the other week when I picked up a home style magazine and for the first time for years, there was colour everywhere.  None of this bland grey, grey and black or black and red.   I so hate that last one, it reminds […]

Cacti Display Ruined For Life By Clumsy Visitor

Cacti Display Ruined For Life By Clumsy Visitor

I can’t tell you how I hate the sight of cactus plants.  It started years ago – the father of our best friend collected these and other succulents.  I was only about ten at the time and I could never see the facination with these odd prickly and dried up looking speciments.  Over the summer holidays I spent many hours in that house – not actually admiring the growth factor, which us very very slow.  Fortunately.  I do recall that they never watered the cacti at all – I’m guessing this was alright, they had about 400 of the blighters.  These were arranged as tastefully as possible in deep metal trays around the edges of the special outhouse and it was considered a treat to be allowed to view them.  I tripped over on one occasion and put my hand out to steady myself.  Big mistake.  The tray with 200 cacti  came crashing to the floor, the display plus contents ruined for ever.

Using Bold Colour in Your Designs

Using Bold Colour in Your Designs

When we decorate our homes, we often find ourselves sticking to fairly neutral palettes, of beiges, creams, whites and greys.  There are lots of different ways you can add a touch of colour to a room, without needing to go all in on the decorating! Here are some ideas:

  • Swap out your cushions for bright and bold colours and textures. These draw the eye and look fantastic, especially when lots of textures are used at the same time.
  • Alter furniture to make it more exciting – try painting handles, legs or arms of furniture to make them look more interesting
  • Use picture frames with bright prints in to add a temporary colour change
  • Don’t be afraid to clash colours or choose colours outside of your normal comfort zone
