Whenever I see a pic of cut lemons with stainless steel, it reminds me of one particular tv chef – shes’ a very attractive lady and has a great personality.  One area that makes her stand out is her insistance on rubbing knives with lemons and using them on all meats, cheeses and fish.  Just the picture of good quality stainless steel makes me want to rush out to look at my fairly newly installed kitchen.   It replaced the old model that had been there from the first and started to look seriusly old and unloved.  The workstop had started to rot underneath, where various dribblings of liquid had been able to seep down the edge.  The middle of the worktop gets very spongy and unpleasant if it get wet because it is basicially fibreboard.  The new one is made of much harder laminate material and is sealed around the edge with special waterproof products.    The old working surface looked unsightly  too because when I clean, it’s in a whirling dirvish style of spritz with hottest water in tap, then spraying round with the best hard water removing soda crystals.  Well this stained the worktop badly after  many years of abuse!
